brand new nano 8gb, when I plug it in a box with adobe photoshop comes up. I tunes won’t recognize it either?

Yes it is possible that ur son erased the software try reinstalling the ipod software, either that or backup all of your itunes songs, and delete the Itunes, and reinstall it at apple.com
If this does not work, im sorry,
Make sure if u do decide to re install itunes, BACK UP UR MUSIC AND STUFF!!! Make copies and put them in a different folder, then add them all to your itunes when u re install it. IF U DO NOT BACK UP UR MUSIC IT WILL GET DELETED when u uninstall Itunes!
