Can Linux OS. in Eee laptop compatible with Window Software?

I plan to download some of my favorite software like Firefox, Yahoo Messenger, Dictionary software, Adobe… They are all Window Operating Software………. Most the these softwares are reserved for only Window!!! Help!

    Firefox has a linux version. I believe Yahoo Messenger does as well. Adobe not sure, but there are products like it. You can try to use WINe (The Windows Emulator) to run some Windows Software, but you’re better off using the linux alternatives. In many cases, they are better than Windows apps (if a little more complicated).

    Either that or buy a copy of Windows and install that.

    No!! Laptop or PC they are 2 completely different operating systems plus you probably don’t have a big enough harddrive to put both OS’s on anyway and you cannot run them both at the same time. They will conflict and you will be in deep deep shit then

    Firefox is preinstalled in almost all Linux distros. So no need to worry abt that.

    Pidgin messenger can be configured easily for Yahoo.

    What’s a Dictionary software ?

    Adobe ? Adobe what ? PDF viewer is preinstalled.

    Don’t expect anything from Wine. You’re lucky if you get something running in it.
