What computer and software best for photo editing?

Adobe Software
Just wondering what you guys use as far as software and computer brand for your photo editing. I have a Dell PC currently and Adobe Photoshop Elements. I was thinking about getting a Mac, as I have heard they are better, along those lines I have done a little research on Aperture and Lightroom, just not sure what is the best way to go to upgrade my system and software. I have a Canon Rebel and just started getting into photography as a hobby. Thanks in advance.

Stay with what you got. Don’t go endlessly chasing the “green pasture” on the other side of the fence.
Photoshop is the standard. You may want to upgrade to a CS version.
Add some RAM memory to your computer and upgrade your video card. For $200 you can run with anything. (Now, with all that money you saved, get some great lenses for your camera. That is where true image quality comes from.)

I would highly recommend a Mac! I use Lightroom2 and Photoshop CS4. Usually when buying both Lightroom and Photoshop Adobe will give you a package deal. The best of luck to you.

That is like asking “What camera is better? Nikon or Cannon?”. My computer is a home brew using an AMD cpu and an Nvidia video card.. My main graphics software are ACDsee and Paint shop Pro. Though I do also have Photoshop, but don’t use it much. Oh and R studio for when I need to recover deleted files.
