What is the best Video editing software in your opinion and why?

Adobe Software
I just got adobe after effects and shortly after realized it’s not really meant for your typical video editing, cutting and etc. So now i am thinking about Adobe Premiere elements or cyberlink powerdirector or whatever. Anyways, those are my prospects so far. help out and tell me what your favorite video editing software is, and your reasons why. It would be hugely helpful. Thanks!!

I personally use Sony Vegas Pro 8.
I heard Premiere is good and easy, but Sony has more to work with.
You can make simple effects that look niiiice with it.
