what kind of software is used to make music mashups?

does anyone know how to create music mashups and mixes on the computer? id like to know how to create mixes like the one Girl Talk makes. i dunno i find them interesting and would like to know what kind of program to use. ive seen some places say a program such as Audio Mulch or Adobe Audition. but owuld there be a cheaper and less tedious alternative?

Try Audacity or Wavosaur…
Both are great and both are free.
Less tedious may be asking too much; what’s you’re really asking for isn’t so simple.
I use Audacity, but probably only because I started using it first.
