Why does Adobe come out with so many upgrades so fast?

It seems like only 3 or 4 years ago I bought Adobe CS, which is version 8. Now they have Version 10 or CS3.

I know that when new features are implemented into software it can lead to an Upgrade vs. and Update, but I rarely see Adobe have updates for their old software other than increasing the supported camera images in Raw format.

I guess I’m just upset that Adobe expects the average person to shovel out $300 every time a new version comes out. Also, I’m not one that likes to upgrade software. There are too many possible errors that can rise from installing over an old installation!

Also, I know Adobe has an update page, but why does the update selection from the drop-down menu from within Photoshop lead to a non-existing web page? This http://softwareupdates.adobe.com/updates/en_US/products/photoshop/windows is where it takes me.

why not? Who said you need to upgrade?

Right now, Photoshop CS2 is so much more stable than CS3 and so much better in terms of quality, and all the plugins are compatible with CS2.
